Our founder, Carol Phillips' (pictured with her daughter Tess and husband Leigh Phillips) experience with product development, through a long career as a department store buyer, and her love of linens dating back to pleasant family vacations at her grandmothers' houses combine to form the backbone of Embellishments Distinctive Pillows. She began Embellishments while living in New Orleans with 1 very part-time seamstress, and trips to local to local estate sales. 14 years later, Embellishments has a sewing and design staff of 16, an 1800 square foot store of remnant and vintage fabrics and notions, and a website dedicated to these textiles and the cool things you can make from them.
Carol's lectures on "Sentimental Decorating" and "Caring for your Linens" are popular in the Houston area. Many Texans have been introduced to Embellishments during the Round Top Antique Festival at Marburger Farms. Carol has been called "uber-creative" by the Houston Chronicle and will be featured in the June 2007 Country Living Magazine. Embellishments' products can be found in homes throughout Texas, even in the Governor's Mansion, and at the Bush Ranch in Crawford, Texas.

We travel nationally and internationally to find the textiles, trims, buttons, and notions for our products. Favorite haunts are Brimfield, MA, the NYC flea markets, Paris flea markets, and Istanbul.
About the store:
Come visit the home location in Houston, Texas. We have lots of trims, notions, raw needlepoints, and a vintage/remnant fabric wall to indulge in. Adjacent to our store is Memorial Antiques and Interiors (MAI), a refined antique store with new twists on old ideas and some 30+ dealers/designers. MAI was voted the top write in candidate in the Houston Chronicle for "Best Antique Store" in Houston, after only being open less than six months. One stop is all it takes to find two great stores and a ladies shopping paradise!
